Applications are now being welcomed from artists and craft makers who wish to rent a studio at Farfield Mill Arts & Heritage Centre near Sedbergh. The centre is home to 15 studios that are available to rent for individuals or collectives who wish to share a studio.
Farfield focuses particularly on textile artists and producers of all kinds, but the work ranges from green woodwork to knitwear design, ceramics and jewellery to painting and textiles. Within the centre are heritage displays of the weaving and mill history, and there are two operating Victorian style Dobcross Looms.
In addition to containing well-sized and useful studio space, Farfield Mill hosts occasional resident artist exhibitions and runs a regularly changing programme of high profile temporary exhibitions. Located in the midst of the picturesque Howgill hills beside the River Clough, Farfield provides a highly inspirational setting for its artists. Furthermore, the centre is also a thriving retail space that boasts an excellent tea room!
Studios can be rented for £6.50 per sq ft. Studio sizes range from 130 sq ft to 480 sq ft for a combined studio space. Power is supplied to all units and charged quarterly, and some units have water facilities.
If you are interested in a studio space or require further details please contact the director, Clare Hamilton by telephone on 01539 621505/621958 or email her at clarehamilton@farfieldmill.org.uk
