Hilltop Spinning and Weaving Centre was established in 1990. We are specialist suppliers of hand spinning, hand weaving, dyeing and felt making equipment. We are agents for Ashford equipment and also offer our own range of Textile Craft Kits and publications.

The proprietors, Sue and Bill Chitty, have been spinners, weavers, dyers and felt makers since 1972 and in 1985 Sue obtained The Bradford Handloom Weaving Diploma and her skills and experience are passed on in her courses.

One to One courses are tailored to suit the individual requirements of the student. Beginners and improvers in the following textile craft disciplines:

· Hand spinning on a wheel or drop spindle.

· Weaving on a 4 shaft loom, rigid heddle loom, knitters loom, sample loom or peg loom.

· Dyeing with natural dyestuffs, Easy Peasy dyeing, vat dyeing (indigo or woad) and procein dyeing on cotton, linen, hemp or other vegetable fibres.

· Felt making wet or needle felting techniques.

One to One courses are held at Hilltop in Lyminge. The tuition fee includes the use of all required equipment and fibres; there are no hidden extras. You are encouraged to bring your own equipment and fibres if you have them.

We offer a personal service that is both knowledgeable and unbiased. We want you to be happy with your purchases and, primarily, we are here to help and also encourage you to get involved with textile crafts. We also offer a loom or spinning wheel repair service.
