Margaret Beal is an embroiderer who travels the UK and abroad teaching her innovative and popular soldering iron techniques. If you have never tried heat techniques, you will be unaware just how exciting they can be. The fine tipped soldering iron is one of the most creative tools available to textile artists and embroiderers’ today. Margaret is a pioneer of these techniques. Armed with a soldering iron she is able to cut, fuse, seal, seam, score and make marks on single or multiple layers of fabric, creating finished pieces in their own right or making unique surfaces for further stitching, whether by hand or machine. Her techniques are straight forward and easy to learn, they can be developed and combined with other mixed media and embroidery techniques.
Margaret's dayschools and workshops are filled with inspirational ideas, her book entitled Fusing Fabric is available by mail order direct from her, together with the soldering iron, fabrics and other useful equipment.
Fine-tipped soldering irons, organzas, acrylic felt (all colours). Madeira threads, metallic fabric, PVC. ‘Burning Issues’ day schools using the soldering iron.
