The Embroidered Patchwork Bear is an Australian single-project book involving crazy patchwork, bear making and embroidery. The embroidery designs are very traditional and a wide range of stitches are demonstrated using single threads. The overall design of patchwork with decorative seams and lacework on patterned materials can appear to be a few embellishments too many.
Elaborate border stitches over every seam ‘defy the rules’ according to the author, but rather than appearing contemporary the finished bear looks quite dated. It’s suggested in this book that patchwork provides a wonderful canvas for embroidery but a little goes a long way on a small bear. But hey, we all love our teddy bears don’t we!
