Francoise takes the sky as her source of inspiration and translates its many emotions into beautiful textile surfaces. The images are abstract and will encourage readers to pursue their own ideas. There are over 300 stunning photographs of the sky – a never-ending source of subtle effects, colours and textures ¬– providing never ending inspiration.
The basic techniques of wet felting, needle felting, tufting and experimenting with ready-made felt are clearly described. There is also some free-form knitting, crochet, couching and embroidery, plus many unusual and innovative ideas for creating wonderful surfaces to play with. There are hints for making useful items such as edgings, baby blankets, handbags, purses, cushions, throws, scarves and shawls, or sleep under a fluffy blanket of pale blue and white clouds.
This is a stunning and unusual book that will delight all who are interested in textile art.
