Sew Fabulous Fabric: 20 charming ways to sew fabrics into your life is a new title from David and Charles on the theme of sewing as a home craft. Like the other books in this range the eye-candy filled cover will guarantee to turn a head and the simple approach to sewing makes it a fully accessible project book for any crafter, regardless of skill level.
This particular book has a much more pertinent recycling undertone that makes it a home sewing bible not only for modern sustainable living, but much more than that it harks back to a time where our mothers and grandmothers ‘make-do-and-mend’ skills were not just a craft, but a home budgetary asset. Finances being what they are for most of us now, it is again a time where we start to turn to home crafting as a way to reinvigorate our surroundings.
Butcher and Farquhar take us through the very basics of fabric bases, sewing equipment and techniques, as well as mentioning trimming and embellishment concepts. All of which are a great basis to launch yourself into scavenging your stash pile and button boxes before tackling one of the many wonderful projects; for home, celebration and clothing. I feel this book is going to be another big hit, again proving that sustainability can be chic and fun too.
