This book is aimed at the more experienced embroiderer who is open to new ideas and wants to experiment with ways of interpreting their own ideas and designs. It assumes a prior knowledge of techniques, products and suppliers.

We learn by doing. We discover by doing. A lot of our best pieces of work come about by a willingness to experiment. This book encourages the reader to go down that path.

It is a very attractively presented book with good clear photographs. When you see it, it invites you to pick it up and delve inside. Like their previous books it is divided into four sections - Forming and Constructing, Building up Surfaces, Creating Transparency and Recycling Materials. The section on recycling would be particularly of interest to cash strapped textile students and teachers.

The pages are interspersed with a few witty cartoons. The one with the lady looking into a skip reminds me of several textile friends who are inordinately fond of skips and charity shops.

This is a small book - only 56 pages - but it packs in a lot of ideas and sensible advice on design. The enthusiasm of the group, their teamwork and their obvious enjoyment of textiles shine through the book.
