Nordic Felted Knits appeals from the outset. Its dimensions, blue-toned cover image, title and even the price all make for a welcoming experience.

Inside it does not disappoint - crisp layouts, clear photographs and a new project at every turn of a page. There’s an abundance of patterns in this slim volume; variations on gloves, mittens, hats and scarves as well as sweaters and ponchos, slippers and bags. Knitted containers and crocheted mats too, and even an angel. Children and women are especially well catered for and the shapes are simple and pleasing, with many then embellished with beads or embroidery.

Basic instructions for felting your knitted items in a washing machine are included, beside a slightly confusing paragraph on yarns to use. This leads to my only quibble, which is that the specified yarns are not presently available in the UK and no substitutes are suggested. An important point as different yarns behave differently when felted. It’s still a lovely book though!
