This book does what it says in the title – and a bit more. Clear written instructions illustrated with simple but detailed colour drawings and photographs show how to recreate 50+ stitches in detail.
In addition, other techniques used in achieving a finished project are explained, as well as materials you might need along the way. The text is also dotted with the sort of helpful tips that take years of experience and mistakes to build up.
I have to admit that I haven’t done a great deal of needlepoint, so as a beginner I feel that Needlepoint Stitches provides a thorough grounding. The way in which the text and illustrations guide you through simple and complex stitch combinations inspires confidence. If you are looking for a straightforward Needlepoint handbook this could be the one for you, however, if you want a fresh or contemporary approach to needlepoint I suggest you look elsewhere.
