Knit Kimono is a very appealing book. It is beautifully presented and designed. Traditional Japanese style is really brought up to date in Vicki Square’s kimono patterns and choice of yarns. The theme is continued in the colouring and motifs chosen throughout the pages.

Vicki Square begins with an explanation of kimono construction, meaning and history. There is also a guide to designing for yourself and translating designs into knitted garments. She expands on these elements in the introduction to each of the 18 projects in Knit Kimono. The range of designs, colours and yarns she suggests give plenty of scope for knitting for all sorts of occasions.

Each project is very well illustrated. The finished garments are modelled and there are also layout and knitting diagrams besides the written pattern instructions.
