Textile Artist Maggie Grey introduces this book with a simple guide to very useful, clear techniques, which she then plays with throughout to produce truly inspirational and highly experimental designs. Section one outlines detailed tips for printing on various papers and tissues and how to get the most out of your digital photos and scanned images.
Maggie then demonstrates how to embellish effectively using stitch designs, woven papers and printed lace.
The Author introduces innovative products, such as InkAID and Translucent Liquid Sculpey (TLS), and passes on invaluable tips on the best ways to use them. The pros and cons of each product is clearly summarised at the end of each section. This will save you time by avoiding the extensive experimentation needed to understand these products fully. Maggie also suggests very creative alternative uses for the products, which appear to be very effective.
Section two demonstrates innovative printing techniques when using fabric. One section in particular shows how to impose sophisticated imagery onto fabrics without the use of industrial digital fabric printers. A glossary at the back, entitled ‘useful stuff’, lists brilliant business contacts, software and books for your reference. From Image to Stitch is a ‘must have’ book for hobbyists and professionals alike.
