Originally published in France, the English version of Cendrine Armani’s book provides firstly, a section dedicated to various felting techniques (flat and 3D with soap, colour mixing and insetting, needle-felting, etc.) and construction/finishing techniques. Written instructions here are a little brief, but fully supported by clear photographic step-by-step pictures.
56 projects are then given, although some appear to be the same, only differing in colour and the item which they are embellishing, i.e. leather shoes, ready-bought gloves, bags and jewellery. Both imperial and metric measurements are given and the projects are listed under 10 different sections such as Oriental, Useful & Practical, Snug Shoes for Boys, etc. Each set of project instructions refers the reader back to the relevant felting technique earlier in the book.
A full page of materials is listed, but no suppliers suggested – the projects are achievable, but would need extra research in order to source the correct wools to use and, in the case of many of the projects, jewellery and handbag-making tools and equipment. So make sure you take a look through the shopping section of HotHive Textiles to find what you are looking for.
