This is the book we have all been waiting for. Fans of Nicky Epstein’s Knitting source books will be delighted with Crocheting on the Edge. Written in the same format as her previous books, each of the 200 crocheted edgings are beautifully photographed and clearly described in both words and diagrams.
Crochet has, in the past, been stiff and old fashioned, but not so in this book. It is a joy to see a master craftswoman who consistently produces inspirational designs for us to work with.
The chapters are: Ribs & Bobbles, Ruffles, Flora, Fringes, Points & Scallops, plus a bonus of nine complete items to make. With all the lovely modern yarns to choose from, crochet need never be static again. Nicky has made it tantalising, imaginative and fluid.
As the author says, “Edgings can take handcrafted pieces from the ordinary to the extraordinary, or from the special to the sublime.” As a follow on from her first book ‘Crocheted Flowers’ — this book does exactly that.
