The 2009 craft&design Selected Awards

In recognition of the superb work of talented designer makers in Britain and Ireland, Craftsman craft&design magazine are proud to announce their exciting new awards for 2009.

The craft&design Selected Awards are based around designer makers whose work has been accepted to be featured on the craft&design Selected website. You can view the gallery at www.craftmaker.co.uk. Everyone who has work accepted onto the online gallery is automatically entered into the awards.

The awards are separated into six categories:
·    Wood & Metal Crafts
·    Jewellery, Gold & Silversmiths
·    Pottery & Ceramics
·    Textiles & Needlecrafts
·    Glass Crafts
·    Specialist Media

One Award valued at £5,000 will be presented to the maker with the highest number of votes across all categories. Five separate awards valued at £2,500 will be presented to the maker with the most votes in each of the remaining categories.

How to enter

Anyone wishing to be entered for these awards needs to submit their work for consideration for the Selected online gallery. Applications to be featured on Selected are considered by the craft&design panel and work is assessed according to the criteria of skill and originality in design and making. To submit your work please email a selection of images to selected@craftanddesign.net or post them to Selected Applications, craft&design Magazine, PO. Box 5, Driffield YO25 8JD. If your work is accepted you will automatically be entered into the awards.

How to vote

Voting is open from 1 January 2009. You may vote for as many different makers as you wish, but you may only cast one vote for each maker.

Whether you’re a maker, an event organiser, a gallery owner, a supplier or simply someone who loves to look at and sometimes buy crafts, make sure that you vote for the maker of your choice at www.craftanddesign.net/selected
