I weave large wall hangings for corporate and public places. My hangings are internationally commissioned from Tokyo and New York to London and Singapore.

I have always been interested in weaving as a problem-solving process; first is my decision to make something, followed by working out how it can happen as a woven piece.

Over the years my work, which is based on Ikat and dip-dyeing silk, has become more and more layered, with inlay and supplementary wefts. Now I have added wire, which adds an exciting three dimensional element.

I am not interested in figurative work; I find abstract much more fascinating. The viewer is forced to look at spatial relationships of forms and colours and be drawn deeply into the piece.

Colour is very important as a means of expressing emotions and translating the natural world in personal terms. Weaving scarves allows me to experiment with colour interactions, which I later use in the hangings.

I weave large, abstract wall hangings in silk and wire that are site-specific, particularly for corporate and public spaces.
