The Textile Studio

The Textile Studio is based on the northern edge of the New Forest National Park, a great place for creative holidays. It is situated 2 miles from the pretty market town of Fordingbridge.

The Studio runs courses throughout the year, with four different courses are available.

Silk velvet printing and dyeing using bright dye's - This course is ideal for making velvet scarfs and cushions.

Printing and painting on cotton and vintage linen using Indian wood blocks - This course gives great results on tea towels and aprons.

Silk and Satin painting using Batik methods - This course is great for fashion fabrics.

Onglaze ceramic painting using lovely bone china shapes - The studio has a collection of original 1950's china to use as inspiration for this very relaxing course.

The Studio also has an extensive library of Vintage fabrics from the 1930s to the 1950s to use as a design source, as well as a large collection of books on Art, Design, and Textiles all available to students to use for idea's on the individual courses. There are lots of ways to design great one off textile prints taking inspiration from natural and everyday objects.

Courses are for all abilities, no previous drawing skill is needed and they are adapted to individual students needs, from beginners to more advanced students.

Locally sourced lunch is provided on the Textile course's and on the Ceramic course by arrangement. Vegetarian option is available, as is lots of tea and coffee! The New Forest is a great place to spend a few days doing something creative.
