The bag design competition organised by HotHive Textiles to celebrate World Fair Trade Day has now closed and the attention turns to the visitors of our website to vote for their favourite design.
Artists and designers were invited to submit their design ideas for a fabulous fairly traded organic cotton shopping bag. The theme of the competition was ‘India’ and we encouraged entrants to incorporate their own creative ideas to produce a vivid design.
The winning entry will then be exclusively produced for HotHive Textiles by pioneering Fairtrade company, Bishopston Trading, who provide work for tailors and handloom weavers in rural India. HotHive Textiles recently published an article about them, which you can read here.
We will have a limited edition of 100 of the bags printed, and they will be available to buy from the HotHive Textiles website. The bags will be priced at £4 each plus £1 for delivery, and £1 from each sale will be donated to The Fairtrade Foundation. The winner will receive a free bag featuring their design.
We had lots of fabulous designs into the competition, a small seclection of which can be seen here. To view all the entries and vote for your favourite please click here to visit our design gallery. Voting closes on Friday 8 May at 4.30pm and the winner will be announced on Saturday 9 May, World Fair Trade Day. Each person can only vote once - so please make sure you choose carefully!
