Astwood Bank First School Artist in Residence Opportunity

Article Added: 05/12/2008
Astwood Bank First School is looking for an artist to take up residency in the school to help pupils develop their creative skills.

The school is situated in a village in the outskirts of Redditch and has 300 pupils aged 4 to 9 years old. A new hall and an art workshop were completed at the school last year and they are now looking to extend this to introduce a resident artist to the school. The chosen artist must be willing to work one day a week (or the equivalent) in the school and run art clubs after school in exchange for the room.

Head teacher Christine Rider says, “We have a very strong commitment to the arts and we work very hard to give our children the very best, richest opportunities in their learning journey and having direct access to a working artist has to be one of the richest.”

The chosen candidate will need to be CRB checked and have an empathy with children. The initial residence will last for a year, but this may be extended. If you would like to find out more about the school please visit www.astwoodbank.worcs.sch.uk. Visits to the school will also be welcomed.

To apply for the post please email a CV, letter of application and details of two referees to head teacher Christine Rider at head@astwoodbank.worcs.sch.uk.
