The world's first Jelly Roll Quilt Challenge

Article Added: 12/11/2008
This is a unique and exciting competition that challenges quilters all over the world to unroll their delicious Jelly Rolls and come up with the most creative quilt design they can, using just one roll. The competition has been organised by Pam and Nicky Lintott of the Quilt Room and is supported by Moda (the clever folk who first offered their gorgeous fabric collections in these neat little rolled up bundles) and Singer (the sewing machine experts). There are fabulous prizes to win as well as the opportunity for the top 12 quilts to appear in a celebratory book.

The winning quilts, selected by a panel of experts, will be featured in a beautiful new book to be published in 2009 by David & Charles. The Jelly Roll Challenge book with Pam and Nicky Lintott will feature full instructions for recreating the winning quilts, information about their makers and stunning full-colour photographs.

The overall winner of the competition will receive a CE-250 Futura SINGER sewing and embroidery machine (worth $1000) plus $2000 (or the £ equivalent) in cash. The second prize winner will receive $750 cash and the third prize winner $250 cash.

A full list of terms and conditions, FAQs and support can be found at www.jellyrollchallenge.com. To enter quilters need to complete the online form and attach up to five photographs of their quilt top (no need to back, quilt and bind as the Quilt Room will be quilting all quilts), together with instructions for piecing and any appliqué as a separate attachment and then submit this with the entry fee of $10/£7.50 via the website. Alternatively quilters can send their entry and fee to Jelly Roll Challenge, David & Charles Ltd, Brunel House, Newton Abbott, Devon TQ12 4PU if you are based in the UK or Jelly Roll Challenge, 4700 East Galbraith Road, Cincinnati 4536 if you are based in the USA.
