Help at hand for busy or struggling knitters

Article Added: 25/03/2010 16:40:05
This month we had an email from HotHive Textiles member Patricia Baggott to tell us about a new service she is offering in which she completes knitting projects or alterations for people who, for one reason or another, have never got round to completing them.

Patricia told us, “Thinking of the present vogue in recycling it occurred to me that lots of people have knitwear that perhaps the sleeves or body are too long and need shortening or require some other alteration. There are many customers who start on a project and may find it too difficult, get frustrated and thus put it to one side.”

Patricia is also keen to help people who would like to finish the project themselves but don’t have the confidence or know-how. She says, “I am very interested in enabling these crafts to be passed on to the next generation.”

Patricia is happy to take on most projects with the exception of fairisle “timewise this can be a difficult fabric to work with” and mohair “which can be a problem if parts have to be undone”.

If you have a project that you would love to see finished but would like some help then please email details to patricia.baggott@ukonline.co.uk
