Stacey is an Artist Weaver making mixed media textile art and satellite images, combining complex weaving structures (dobby and jacquard) with hand-dyeing and other techniques. Textures are created through using the different properties of yarns in conflict with each other, and the creative use of weave structures. Influences are aerial, landscape and close-up elements of earth’s natural environment, from the wilds of the deserts to oceans to pollen grains.

Using photographic images of the world, from satellite to microscopic, she develops her own scenes of nature using her broad knowledge of weaves, and plays with colour in hand-dyeing. Pieces range from small limited editions of 6” x 8”, up to large hangings and banners.

Sharing knowledge is very important to Stacey and she teaches residential weaving courses at her C18th listed home in rural Staffordshire, offering B&B with home cooking. She attracts students from all over the world to learn weaving in this relaxed setting, with the choice of 8 looms of different sorts, including 4 baby sample hand-jacquard looms. Other looms include 4 shaft looms for beginners and more advanced looms of 16 and 24 shafts for intermediate and experienced weavers.

Stacey regularly gives presentations to textiles groups and also takes part in conferences and seminars around the UK, US, and Europe and has worked as far afield as Oman.
