Emma is a textile designer maker who creates sumptuously tactile textiles for interiors and to wear. Each piece is unique having been individually hand crafted using traditional and contemporary felting techniques. She uses a range of luxury fibres including merino wool, silks, soya and velvets to make individual, small batches and commissioned pieces. Emma utilizes the memory of wool in her work to explore the fibres' potentials to form sculptural, textured and raised surfaces. Inspired by organic forms and patterns her work has distinctive colours, striking shapes and exquisite textures. She manipulates the wool using stitch, nuno and shibori to achieve permanent shapes and patterns which echo her sources of inspiration. Emma offers a commission service to customers, tailoring products to co-ordinate with an outfit or favourite colours. Emma also teaches felt making and a range of other textiles techniques. She is a qualified teacher who is experienced in teaching all ages and abilities from primary to higher education. Workshops can be arranged for individuals and groups, for pleasure or as part of a programme of professional development. Please contact Emma to discuss your requirements.
