While at college Sue developed a naïve style that evolved from research into historical and ethnic textiles. Each character that she creates reflects that style. Each one is unique and hand crafted often using traditional and recycled techniques and materials but in a contemporary way to create unique products.

Many of Sue’s characters are three dimensional and vary in size and shape. They are created as individuals and the nature of the creative process means that each has its own personality that is hard to ignore! Others appear on canvas and reflect aspects of life that we can all relate to!

SewSister creations are friendly and welcoming, and will one day each find their own home and place to exist and be loved.

SewSister dolls incorporate motifs, techniques and materials that stem from the past but are now subject to new and contemporary interpretation.
