| 10th September -15th October 2010 Textile artists have always used found objects and recently, given the current financial and social climate, the practice has become even more popular. Mundane objects such as CD cases can be used to create stunning pieces of art, teabags have been used to create large installations, biscuits used for printing and old paper transformed into ballet shoes. Examples of work featured in the book can be seen in my forthcoming exhibition 'Natural Histories' at Maidstone Library Gallery’. Working as Resonant Textiles, this collaborative exhibition with textile artist Anne Kelly uses found materials. It is a reflection of our interest in natural spaces- open landscape, intimate gardens, spaces in towns and the flora and fauna within landscape. Opening Hours: 2 pm - 4 pm Address: Maidstone Library Gallery, St Faiths Street, Maidstone. Kent. ME15 7QX Tel: 01622 755704 Email: www.casholmes.textilearts.net Web: www.casholmestextiles.co.uk |

| Friday 22nd October – Sunday 24th October 2010 Now in its third year, the contemporary craft buying event will feature 150 designer-makers in ceramics, jewellery, textiles, glass, furniture and other fashion, home and interior products. All the exhibitors are professional designer-makers and only have 40% chance of making it through the tough selection process. This year, the organisers have announced the addition of Great Northern Graduates, an area of the show which showcases the best from this year’s creative degree courses. This year’s graduates could end up producing future collectors’ pieces. Showcasing their work in this prime exhibition space, successful graduates will gain exposure to leading curators, buyers, journalists, collectors, galleries and the public, providing an essential element in the transition from student to employable designer.
