Turn your passion for textiles towards a career Our textiles courses are particularly popular. This is because they build on creative craft skills which many of our students already have, and because textile design can be a way into the world of art & design for people who have not traditionally thought of themselves as 'artists'. The Open College of the Arts offers a textiles degree that allows you to study from home, and fit your study around other commitments. You can choose to study individual courses, just for pleasure, to practise new skills and develop your inventiveness and flair, or you can build up credits to gain a BA Hons degree in textiles. There are no entry requirements for our textiles course. You just have to demonstrate interest and the motivation to study. Our textiles courses will introduce you to a broad range of textile art techniques and processes. You won’t have to spend a lot of money on equipment. There are a wide range of options, including studying design and printmaking as well as textiles, and you will learn how to present and market your work. When you enrol you will be joining a vibrant community of textile artists, photographers, writers, designers and painters. If you decide to work towards a degree you will be following a recognised higher education programme validated by a UK university and meeting the highest quality standards.
