Siân Martin gained a BA Hons at Birmingham College of Art and Design, specialising in Embroidery, followed by an MA at the same college and an Art Teachers Diploma at the University of Leicester. Siân is a ‘visiting lecturer’ on the Fashion and Textiles Degree Course at Somerset College of Art and Design and tutors the City and Guilds Diploma in Embroidery, Level 3 at Urchfont Manor College, Wiltshire. Siân Martin is invited to run workshops for textile groups especially Branches of the Embroiderers’ Guild throughout this country and abroad. She runs ‘Distant Stitch’, a successful City and Guilds embroidery correspondence course, with many students in Britain and abroad. Siân is an exhibiting member of the 62 Group of Textile Artists and the Practical Study Group. Her personal work currently involves creating relief textile surfaces with found objects and use of stitched text.

Sian Martin at Distant Stitch offers personal tuition by correspondence for City and Guilds Certificate and Diploma and short courses.
