We have fallen in love with this book, or more precisely, the Misfits that make up the book. There are 35 projects to complete, each with a description of the creatures life and personality such as, Freddie the Mouse, who spends his days in the garage polishing his car and dreaming of the open road. The images and illustrations that come with each of the Misfits brings it all to life, and you will be hard put not to want to make them yourself! When following the instructions to make the creatures, they are not as detailed as you would hope. This means that you will need to have some kind of sewing inginuity to fill in the gaps. Because of this, it is not as suitable for biginners as we would like it to be. But if you want a challenge or have someone more experienced close at hand, then definitely give it a go! Bobby Dazzler’s Make Your Own Misfits is currently on sale in the HotHive Bookstore for £12.99, plus post and package. Contemporary Celtic Motifs By Alex Sherman Published by Batsford ISBN: 978-0-7134-9061-9 Price: £16.99 Reviewed by Stacey Harvey Brown Sherman has an obvious love of creating designs with a modern twist, using the foundations of traditional Celtic knotwork, but with a fluidity and exuberance that leaps off the page. The book includes chapters on animal forms, circles, smaller-scale picture motifs, a freer more modern style, which Sherman calls Urban Style, freehand motifs, and borders, along with templates for some of the more unusual shapes that have been used. Also included are more written and drawn details on some of the intricate and complex motifs, which is useful to help construct larger designs. The accompanying CD has all the printed images in digital format. ... Click here for more information. Click here to purchase this book. |
